These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of danielaburgess.com (the “Site”), operated by Ascent Family Therapy, Inc. (“we,” “us”). By using the Site, purchasing a course or product, or subscribing to our newsletter, you agree to these Terms.
Educational content — not therapy or medical advice
The articles, courses, and other content on this Site are for general education and information only. They are not a substitute for professional therapy, counseling, medical, or mental-health advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and using the Site does not create a therapist–client or provider–patient relationship. That relationship is formed only through a signed agreement and services delivered via our client portal. Always seek the advice of a qualified professional with any questions about your health or a medical condition.
Crisis notice
This Site is not monitored for emergencies. If you are in crisis or experiencing a mental-health emergency, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room.
Courses, products & payment
When you purchase a course or product, you agree to provide accurate billing information and to pay the listed price plus any applicable taxes. Access to digital courses is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use; you may not copy, share, resell, or redistribute course materials. We may update or discontinue products at any time. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
Accounts
If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
Joining the community forum is free. It requires your own account, confirmation that you are 18 or older, and acceptance of the current service terms. The course, its Course Discussion room, book reader, private practice workspace, learning guide and exclusive member resources have their own paid access rules. Joining the free forum does not enroll you in those products or in marketing emails.
Connected member workspace and use of interactions
The connected member workspace includes digital worksheets, homework, reflection assessments, progress snapshots, community organization, and AI-assisted resource discovery. These are educational tools. Reflection assessments do not diagnose a condition, assess a partner, or determine your suitability for treatment.
Personalized AI guidance and account-linked learning are standard components of this membership service. We associate your saved workbook and practice entries, revisions, progress, prior AI questions and responses, recorded resource interactions, and new community contributions with your account using Cloudflare services. Relevant portions of your own available learning history automatically inform guidance, resource discovery, and the language and examples used in replies. We also use recorded interactions to recognize important topics, organize discussions, support moderation, and improve our resources and member experience. This processing is included under these Terms, without a separate AI or saved-work personalization opt-in. Marketing email permission remains separate.
You retain ownership of your original contributions. You give us permission to store, process, classify, summarize, and use them as needed for the purposes just described, subject to our Privacy Policy and applicable rights. This does not authorize us to sell your private answers or publish an identifiable personal story as promotional material. Shared teaching search uses approved teaching and authorized member editions of the books. The manuscripts are works in progress; wording, chapter references and practices may change. Your private answers and AI history are not added to a common member-answer library or made available to other members by the AI guide. Each response uses a bounded selection of available context, so it may not consider every saved entry. You can correct an assumption or tell the guide which language, level of detail, or examples help you. The guide is instructed to distinguish observations from interpretations, express uncertainty, consider reasonable alternatives, and avoid reinforcing unsupported assumptions about you or a partner. Personalization does not guarantee an accurate, unbiased, or clinically suitable response.
Member discussions are visible to eligible community members and authorized staff. A display name is not a guarantee of anonymity or confidentiality. Automated systems may propose or apply topic tags and flag a concern; staff review moderation concerns. AI can misunderstand context and is not the final authority on a member, a relationship, clinical care, or an emergency. You may report a concern or ask for review.
Your display name appears on posts, replies and blog comments unless you choose anonymous posting. That choice hides your public account link on the contribution; authorized staff retain its connection to your account. It does not make public comments private or guarantee confidentiality. Share only text and images you have permission to share, and protect other people’s identifying details. Passage-sharing tools retain the quotation’s source and respect the destination’s access rules. Mentions are for relevant, respectful conversation. Members may create polls, questions, meetups and discussion groups; participation remains each person’s choice. Hosts can see named responses, while anonymous responses use an anonymous label. A community activity is not a clinical appointment or a promise of Daniel’s participation.
Use the account’s help tools to report a site problem, ask for support or suggest an improvement. A report includes the details you choose to submit and its subsequent replies; private workbook or guide history is not automatically attached. You can return to the request to see its status and continue the conversation. This support channel is not monitored for emergencies. Recommendations and related-content suggestions help you find material available to your account; you decide whether to read, save or include a suggested source in a discussion.
This community welcomes adults 18 and over. Use the words that feel natural to you: everyday language, anatomical terms, slang, or the language of your faith. Frank discussion of desire, pleasure, fantasy, consensual erotic roleplay and other legal taboo topics is welcome. Respect freely given consent, boundaries, changed minds, and other people’s privacy. Sexualized content involving minors, illegal content, coercion, exploitation, abuse, and targeted harassment are prohibited. Seeking support about an unwanted or harmful experience is welcome; describing harm does not make you responsible for it. Community discussion and the learning guide provide education and support, not individual diagnosis or treatment.
Sharing with a partner
Each partner uses their own account and must have the access required for the resource. Pairing requires an invitation and acceptance. Pairing alone does not share your answers. You choose each saved item to share; your partner sees a read-only copy of the current item while that sharing permission remains active. You can stop sharing an item or disconnect the pair. Revocation stops future access through this service; it cannot remove a screenshot or a copy someone already saved. Never share another person’s account or require a partner to disclose private work.
Acceptance, changes and your records
Connected workspace terms version 2026-10-16-member-platform-v2 is presented with the Privacy Policy before expanded connected-workspace processing begins. We record the version and acceptance time. Existing members are asked to acknowledge this version; we do not treat a prior purchase as recorded acceptance of a later material change. Acknowledging the service Terms enables the standard personalized member experience; there is no separate per-message personalization choice. An earlier course purchase does not constitute recorded agreement to a later material change. Existing purchased materials remain governed by their access rules, and access, correction and deletion rights remain available.
You can export or delete connected-workspace records from your account controls. Deleting these records does not automatically delete your WordPress account, orders, native forum contributions, or records held by a separate clinical provider. Contact daniel@ascent.clinic for a broader access, correction or deletion request. Applicable privacy rights remain available even where processing is described in these Terms. Private clinical records belong in the separate clinical portal.
Intellectual property
All content on the Site — text, articles, course materials, graphics, and logos — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other laws. You may view and share links to content for personal, non-commercial use, but you may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the Site, including by attempting to gain unauthorized access, disrupting the Site, uploading malicious code, or using it for unlawful purposes.
Disclaimers & limitation of liability
The Site and its content are provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or its content.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
