Religious Trauma & Purity Culture Recovery

Religious trauma therapy helps you heal the anxiety, shame, and self-loathing that strict religious messaging can leave behind — especially around sexuality. You don’t have to hate your faith to do this work, and you don’t have to keep it either. Your healing, your call.

What purity culture leaves behind

Worthiness anxiety and scrupulosity. Panic and guilt around normal sexual feelings. A body you learned to distrust. Difficulty enjoying intimacy in marriage after years of being told desire was dangerous. Many clients carried these wounds in silence for decades before saying them out loud in my office.

How I approach it

I spent more than 40 years inside the LDS church, so nothing about your experience needs explaining. My approach is trauma-informed and clinically grounded — we treat the shame with accurate information, self-compassion, and careful nervous-system work, at whatever relationship to faith you choose to keep.

You are not broken

The feelings that brought you here are a normal response to the messages you received. With the right support, sexuality can become a healthy, integrated part of who you are — and peace with your spiritual story is possible.
